The Garmin Nuvi 3790T GPS (Global Positioning System) is the latest engineering effort from one of the pioneering companies in the industry. Garmin has continued to update and expand from a technology perspective as well as design in the Nuvi 3790T. Many hand-held electronic devices already have the “ultra-thin” style, so we feel they are a bit behind in their design. Its isn’t a big issue however since this is something the consumers wanted and Garmin responded. Can the bells and whistles get any better is something we are asking ourselves all the time because they seem to keep improving them all the time. When it comes to consumer electronics, the ergonomics of the device must be considered. However, the convenience factor for carrying the Nuvi 3790T in your shirt pocket and Pedestrian navigation mode addresses a new marketing demand. Because it is too early, we don’t know if Garmin’s latest release is a hit or miss.

Along with the clear trend toward micro-designs and very small profiles, there has never been a let-up for the love of 3-D in just about everything. There seem to be many people who love the sense of realism. Garmin created a proprietary 3-D imaging algorithm for buildings and terrains to meet the need for realism. Another thing the Nuvi 3790T provides is the highly detailed City Navigator NT street maps. What that provides is close to six million points of interest in the US, Canada and Mexico. If you are unfamiliar with City Navigator NT, then what you can see are hotels, restaurants, stores of all kinds, entertainment locations, ATM’s, gas stations and a lot more.

Although it doesn’t include absolutely everything, with the use of the 3-D Building and Terrain capability, it will be able to show you major buildings and the surrounding terrain. The Nuvi 3790T not only offers the City Navigator NT, it also comes standard with the SUNA Traffic Channel which has a life subscription. A consequence of creating such a low-profile design is that evidently there wasn’t any room left for a FM receiver. Without a receiver, you won’t be able to get traffic updates from SUNA. This means you will need a charge unit which also houses the FM receiver. Traffic updates will be available on the road because the charger is a mobile device.

You do have the capability of making hands-free phone calls because it also has Bluetooth capability. Think about experimenting with the device first because it seems that the microphone is the last thing that gets installed and rarely is it the best quality of mic on the market. There is an entire slew of features that we cannot cover in detail simply because they are too many. Various software for making just about any kind of calculated conversion you would ever need.

If you are traveling around the country and need ideas, then just download some photos from Garmin Connect and then navigate to whichever picture strikes your fancy. Not everyone will find that feature appealing, but others may find it very helpful for their needs. Garmin Garage for downloading customized security features and Garmin Lock, an anti-theft device are a couple of more features that are offered. Because of its updated ergonomics, its features and the excellent it provides, its hard not to enjoy the Garmin Nuvi 3790T GPS.
