Do You Have Faith In Those Rapid Oil Change Places?

A lot of people take their car to these oil change providers since they don’t know the way to or don’t have time to do it themselves. The question is can these service providers be depended on. In this article, I am going to spotlight why it is not a great idea to go to these places and why you should find a regular mechanic instead.

I am sure you already know that every car has certain rules of thumb about when certain services should be done. Things like oil changes, air filter changes along with other commonly scheduled maintenance. Even so have you ever really looked through the book on your car? I know for certain that your motor oil does not even need to be changed every 3000 miles like these quick oil change places will tell you. The truth is if you look in your book you may find that you only have to change your oil every 6,000 or even 7,000 miles. So, if you think of it, these speedy oil change places are lying to you so they can take your money.

Furthermore if you look through your owners manual you will discover a schedule for changing your air filter. For my automobile, it is suggested that these air filters get switched out every two years or when it is clogged up. Actually, I hadn’t changed the filter in four years because it still looked pretty good, but I changed it anyway. But these quick oil changes would always tell me that I really should have the air filter changed. Six months after I changed my air filter by myself, I took my car to one of these oil change places and I was told that my air filter needed to be changed. They professed that the air filter was starting to discolor which suggested that it would start clogging at anytime. When I informed them it was put in about 6 months ago, they told me that I could probably still use it for another 6 months before it need to be replaced.

What I don’t understand about that is that at first this individual told me it needed to be changed. But when I explained that the air filter was fairly new, they changed their answer to something else. It simply shows how very, very bad and dishonest these people who are employed at these oil change places are.

Another time, one of these stores swapped out my transmission fluid. I am sure they tell you it must be changed whenever you go in there. This one time I told them to go ahead and complete the work. Three months later on, when I went back for an oil change, they told me the transmission fluid was dirty and needed to be changed again. That was the last time I ever visited any of those places.

We’ve since come across an honest mechanic and I don’t bring my cars elsewhere anymore. Truth be told, many of these folks who work at the quick oil change places have never had any training in fixing cars. That’s why you are better off locating a certified repair shop.
